Auction Guidelines

The WNIN Action Auction is WNIN’s largest fundraising event. Funds raised through the Auction support public broadcasting in the Tri-State. Your support ensures that WNIN’s mission will continue. We provide educational programming for children and adults. We reach the underserved and disadvantaged community through Ready-to-Learn Workshops that promote early childhood literacy. WNIN’s mission is to help the Tri-State organizations and individuals make the Tri-State the best place to live and work in America.

To ensure that all bidders and donors are treated equitably, WNIN has established these guidelines.

Bidding Guidelines

Bidders must be 18 years of age or older to bid. Bidder must be 21 years of age or older with proof of age to bid on alcohol.

Express Bid Number allows you quick and effective bidding and pick and pay. To get an express bid number, contact the Auction Department at 812-423-2973 ext. 136. To become an express bidder, you must confirm the following information: Name, Address, Phone Number and Credit Card number.

If you would like to bid on an item on the A, B, Quickie, Big Ten or Steal of the Night boards, you may bid by calling 423-5678 or (812) 264-9646. You may bid only once on one item per call unless you have an Express Bid number. You may call as many times as you wish.

If you would like to bid on an item on the Tonight, Dream, Fantasy or Firehouse Boards, you may bid by phone and stay on the line and make as many bids as you wish.

Bid Increments:
• A,B,Quickie and Big Ten: $2.00
• Firehouse Board: $1.00
• Tonight Board: $10.00
• Dream Board: $25.00
• Fantasy Board: $50.00

Your bid is a commitment to purchase the item at that amount should it be the highest bid. If you purchase an item from the Dream or Fantasy Board, you must put a non-refundable deposit of 25% by credit card at the time of confirmation.

When bidding on a Dream or Fantasy Board item, you may bid by phone and give your name and number to the phone bank volunteer and they will call you back un less you have an express bid number them proceed with your bid.

WNIN reserves the right to withdraw any item at any time, for any reason.

There may be two or more of the same item up for bid at the same time. When there are two of the same items, they will be promoted as “Top 2.” The high bidder has the option to accept both items at the same price. If the high bidder declines, the two top bidders will each get one of each of the items.

WNIN reserves the right to reject a bid from any bidder. The highest bidder confirmed by WNIN shall be the purchaser. In the event of any doubt as to the validity of a bid, WNIN shall have the sole and final discretion to determine the successful bidder. If any dispute arises after the sale, the WNIN sale record shall be conclusive in all respects.

The Names of high bidders are not announced.

In case of identical high bids, the bid marked with the earliest time will be the bid accepted. If there are two or more high bids recorded at the same time, the winner will be drawn randomly from the bids.

If you are the high bidder, you will be confirmed as the high bidder by telephone after the board closes. If you do not answer your confirmation call within two hours, WNIN reserves the right to offer the item to the next highest bidder. You may pay for your item by credit card during the confirmation phone call. WNIN will not leave voice messages.

If you bid on a board late in the evening, you may not receive your confirmation call until the next morning.

If you are the high bidder on a gift certificate, you may pay for the certificate during your confirmation call by credit card or pay in person at WNIN. For a $1.00 processing fee, the certificate will be mailed to you the next business day. Gift certificates are to be picked up after payment at the donor location unless otherwise stated. Donors will be notified about the high bidder.

Payment Information

WNIN accepts cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, or Discover payment options. Bidders paying with checks must provide their driver’s license and date of birth at the time of payment. If a credit card is declined, WNIN reserves the right to go to the next highest bidder.

Pick Up and Pay

If you are the confirmed high bidder for an item deemed for pick-up at the station, you must pick up your item within 48 hours of confirmation or you must give a credit card number to hold the item(s). If you do not provide a credit card number, the item will go to the next highest bidder.

Pick Up and Pay will be opened April 18 – 30, 2012.

The hours of operation will be:
•Monday – Friday: 10am to 6pm
•Saturday: 10am – 2pm
•Sunday: Noon - 4pm

Only merchandise items being picked up from WNIN’s studio will be done at the sole risk of the buyer. WNIN cannot provide assistance in picking up, carrying, or loading large items. Items accepted by the buyer and removed from WNIN property are a final sale.

Refunds or Returns of Merchandise – No item purchase will be refundable or returned to WNIN or the donor.

WNIN reserves the right to dispose of items not picked up within seven (7) days. Successful bidders must make arrangements for the removal of all items on a timely basis or make special arrangements with WNIN.

Auction Item Information

Items sold at the Auction are not exchangeable unless it is clearly stated in the on-air description that the donor will provide an exchange for another item.

No Merchandise or gift certificates will be exchanged for cash.

WNIN will clearly identify in the on-air copy special characteristics, blemishes, or flaws that any item might contain. Antique or otherwise used items will be clearly identified.

Any restrictions of blackout periods will be clearly stated for all travel opportunities sold during the WNIN Action Auction.

Travel packages that are complete with airfare are clearly described in the on-air copy; Airfare is not included in all travel packages and must be purchased additionally by the bidders.

All sales are final. WNIN cannot accept responsibility for any discrepancy not reported to us at the time of sale/pick-up. We encourage all bidders to redeem gift certificates in a timely fashion. WNIN cannot be held liable for donors who go out of business within 90 days of the conclusion of the auction. Please contact the donor with further questions.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD “AS IS”! WNIN makes no warranty or representation of any kind or nature with respect to the property, and in no event will be responsible for the correctness or deemed to have made any representation or warranty of description, genuineness, attribution, provenance, historical period, or condition of the property. No statement on this site, made at the sale, in the bill of sale or invoice, or in the script or elsewhere, shall be deemed such a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability.

Verbal statements made by a WNIN employee or representative shall not constitute a contract or warranty of any type.

All donated merchandise must be new and undamaged. Art antiques, and collectibles should be in marketable condition. WNIN reserves the right to authenticate the value of donations and to approve all scripts for on-air presentation. It is understood that all donations become the property of WNIN and the sale of those items is at the discretion of WNIN. Receipt will be supplied by auction department after annual auction. WNIN produced certificates expire one year after purchase unless otherwise stated.
